Certificate of Concentration in Health Law

JD students may elect to concentrate in the area of Health Law and have this certificate noted on their official transcript upon graduation. To receive the Certificate of Concentration in Health Law, a candidate must successfully complete fifteen (15) hours of coursework, as described below, in addition to other listed requirements.

Writing Requirement

A candidate for the certificate must complete an academic research paper of high professional quality concerning Health Law.  The paper may be written in conjunction with a Health Law course listed above, as part of LAW-L898 Legal Research (Independent Study Research Paper), LAW-L905 Advanced Legal Writing, or through one of the law school journal offerings. This paper must be advised by a member of the faculty. Approval of the topic by the Academic Director of the Health Law Program is required.

Skills Credit

At least one skills credit must be earned in a Health Law related skills class.

Grade Point Average

Students must maintain a G.P.A. average of 3.0 or better in all classes taken to satisfy the course requirements for the concentration, while also graduating with an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.50, in order for this distinction to be noted on their official transcript.
